Our Mission
AHK North Macedonia launched the Skills Expert Programme in April 2017 to introduce the dual vocational training model to the country.
The aim is to support companies in developing qualified professionals by using structured elements of the German system.
Why It Matters
The global demand for skilled workers is increasing
Dual training reduces youth unemployment
It boosts productivity and lowers recruitment costs for companies
The model bridges the gap between theory and practice
The demand for qualified professionals who can meet the rapid changes and developments in the industry is continuously increasing.
For this reason, at the initiative of AHK North Macedonia and partner companies, the vocational programme “Production Engineering Technician” was introduced in the 2019/2020.
This qualification, developed according to the German dual vocational education model, integrates knowledge, skills and competences in modern production engineering with an increased share of practical training in companies (up to 50%).
Tasks of a Production Engineering Technician:
Implemented in cooperation with 8 companies and 5 vocational schools, this qualification is available in Tetovo, Skopje, Veles, Prilep and Ohrid.
In addition to the state diploma, students have the unique opportunity to obtain an AHK/DIHK certificate of completed vocational training according to German standards. After completing the four-year programme, they can be directly employed by the company where they trained or continue their education at university level.
On the initiative of AHK North Macedonia and partner companies, the four-year vocational profile “Industrial Mechatronics Technician” was introduced in the 2018/2019 academic year. Developed according to the German dual vocational education model, this qualification integrates knowledge, skills, and competences from electronics, mechanical engineering, and IT, along with an increased share of practical training in companies (up to 50%). It is applicable in various industrial sectors, especially where production processes are automated.
Tasks of a Mechatronics Technician:
· Installation and programming of mechatronic systems
· Testing and adjusting the functions of mechatronic systems
· Manual and machine processing, machining
· Technical communication
· Installing electrical assemblies and components
· Measuring and testing electrical quantities
· Assembling components and modules for machines and systems
In cooperation with 10 companies and 6 vocational schools, this qualification is implemented in Kumanovo, Veles, Kavadarci, Prilep, Bitola, and Ohrid. In addition to a state diploma, students have the unique opportunity to obtain an AHK/DIHK certificate for completed vocational training according to German standards. After completing the four-year programme, graduates can either be employed directly by the company where they trained or continue their education at a university.
Both occupational profiles are based on the standards of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).
