Young Energy Europe

Young Energy Europe (YEE) is a project of DIHK Service GmbH, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) as part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI). The goal of the project is to train so-called Energy Scouts, who, over the course of a 4–5 day training, are introduced to topics such as energy and resource efficiency, corporate mobility, and various related areas. With the knowledge they acquire, the 18–35-year-old participants have a few weeks to develop a project, which they later present and implement within their companies. Participation is worth it! Not only do the Energy Scouts benefit from the expertise they gain throughout the project duration, but companies also enjoy significant advantages: By implementing the projects developed by participants, companies can often achieve savings in the five-digit range with an investment of just a few hundred euros – all while contributing to climate protection. A win-win for everyone involved!

Energy Efficiency – Resource Efficiency – Corporate Mobility

During the training, the future Energy Scouts learn the most important topics related to energy and resource efficiency, as well as corporate mobility.
They are taught where companies often use resources inefficiently and how to detect and measure such inefficiencies. With the help of experts, participants develop energy efficiency projects in various areas – such as compressed air systems, system optimisation, heat consumption, thermal insulation, etc. – and help reduce unnecessary costs.

Qualification Process

1. Registration
Interested companies register their employees for participation in the qualification programme with the respective AHK.

2. Workshop
The 4- to 5-day workshop provides a fundamental understanding of energy – from generation, relevance to climate protection, to efficient use and associated technologies.
To facilitate the implementation of energy efficiency projects, the workshop also includes topics like project management, internal communication, and the practical use of measuring devices.

3. Practical Phase
This is followed by a period of several weeks during which the Energy Scouts develop and implement their own energy efficiency project within their company.

4. Project Presentation
In the final module “Project Presentation,” the practical projects are presented in a joint workshop and evaluated by a jury.
Participants benefit from the experiences gathered in other companies and gain inspiration for independently identifying further potentials.
At the end, all Energy Scouts receive a certificate of participation from their AHK, and the best projects are awarded by the jury.
